TDS instrument
Goals / Study of solar Type II and III radio emissions. Measurements of high-frequency electromagnetic waves in the solar wind. Detection of interplanetary dust particles.
Basic facts / TDS receiver is a part of the RPW (Radio and Plasma Waves) instrument providing multi-component electromagnetic wave measurements of frequencies up to 200 kHz. TDS digitizes four analog high-frequency channels: three components of the electric field and one component of magnetic field. The obtained signal is processed onboard by implemented algorithms. Only relevant scientific data are downlinked to Earth. The receiver was developed at the Department of Space Physics, Institute of Atmospheric Physics CAS. The RPW instrument is being developed in a consortium, lead by Observatoire de Paris, France.
